Managing Partner, Chief Investment Officer
Mr. McMillan has over 30 years of investment management experience. From 2003 to 2011, he was the portfolio manager and chief investment officer (CIO) of Willowbrook Hedge Fund. Prior to forming Willowbrook in 2000, and beginning in 1989, Mr. McMillan was the executive vice president and chief investment officer (CIO) of Sun America Investments, Inc., which was acquired by AIG in 1998. As CIO, he was responsible for over $75 billion in assets, including public and private investment grade and non-investment grade corporate bonds, residential and commercial mortgage-backed securities, commercial mortgage loans and real estate investments. During his tenure, SunAmerica was one of the top performing stock on the New York Stock Exchange. Mr. McMillan began his career in 1982 with Aetna Life & Casualty and left in 1989 as an assistant vice president with responsibility for the company’s $6 billion fixed income portfolios. He is a co-founder of KBS Capital Advisors, the fifth largest owner of commercial office space in the United States.
He was previously a director of Steinway Musical Instruments, Inc. and is currently a director on the following boards: Metwest Mutual Funds, Trust Company of the West Mutual Funds (TCW) and the KBS REIT Family. Mr. McMillan earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics with honors from Clark University. He received his MBA in Finance from the Wharton Graduate School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
